The Client
The Financial Management Analysis Office (SSG/FMA) manages the financial activities of the HQ Standard Systems Group (SSG). They’re responsible for planning, executing and monitoring Air Force working capital and appropriated funds. These funds support nine different SSG directorates and twelve cost centers.
The Challenge
Central to the SSG/FMA’s mission is the fundamental need for sound, reliable, and auditable cash management processes. Their previous system relied on four different Oracle databases – each containing both shared and distinct financial data. The result was an inherently flawed and time-consuming process for tracking financial information from a myriad of sources.
The Solution
Segue Technologies worked with SSG/FMA to design, develop, and implement a Data Mart that consolidated information from all four databases and included a robust analytic and reporting ‘front-end.’ With Segue Technologies’ solution in place, SSG/FMA users quickly and easily conducted detailed financial analysis of various programs. Most notably, those users focused on labor and material billings discovered improprieties that were previously undetected, thus ensuring accuracy and compliance with all governing policies and procedures going forward.
By combining a systematic approach to financial analysis and the provision of easily accessible ‘clean’ financial data, the Data Mart enabled SSG/FMA to identify and recover millions of dollars in improperly billed funds.
