USN OJAG Database and System Support

Segue Technologies Inc.® provided systems administration, database modernization, and migration for multiple US Navy Office of the Judge Advocate General information systems.

About the Client

The Navy Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG) provides solutions, from a military perspective, to legal issues involving military operations, organization, and personnel, wherever and whenever such solutions are required. The OJAG’s primary focus is on operations, accountability, Sailor legal readiness, and Navy legal readiness.

The Challenge

Under multiple task orders, the OJAG required support to multiple systems critical to their mission. The primary driver for this support was the need to upgrade and migrate their databases to the JES II architecture and framework. OJAG required full software support services including: requirements analysis, development, documentation, and quality control. Support required experience with .NET, MSSQL server, Crystal Reports, and MS Office integration. Additional enhancements and updates to improve system functionality were also required.

The Solution

Tort Claims Database (TCD)

Segue supported this effort by providing initial coding, revising, testing, and documenting of the software. Once the new Torts application web-frontend and backend database were developed, Segue facilitated thorough testing with a combination of technical experts and Tort Claims unit personnel. Upon completion, Segue migrated all user data from the legacy Torts database into the new database architecture, while applying newly defined Group and User access/profile settings. All development work conformed to the standard practices of Department of the Navy and Department of Defense; and the developed application was consistent with the JES2 framework.

Medical Claims Recovery Unit (MCRU)

This project included updates to the Medical Claims Recovery Unit (MCRU), and the migration of the system to the JAG Enterprise System, release 2 (JES II) architecture and framework. Segue provided full software services including requirements analysis, software engineering, documentation, and quality control for this effort. This development involved .NET web application programming, MSSQL Server database creation/modification, and Crystal Reports and Office software integration support.

Under JAG Corps IT personnel (Code 65) oversight, Segue migrated the existing MCRU data and provided updates and enhancements to system functionality. MCRU provides management and input screens for accessing database information, performs data validation upon entry, and provides access to system reports and Word template letter generation functions.

JAGPERS Accession/Recruiting

Segue provided updates to several elements of the JAGPERS system, including the Applicant Module, the Online Application Module, and the Officers Module. The requested updates were a combination of feature enhancements and bug fixes from the prior release of the application. Segue provided full software services including requirements analysis, software engineering, documentation, and quality control for this effort. This development involved .NET web application programming and MSSQL Server database creation/modification.

Additionally, as part of this effort, Segue identified potential improvements to existing processes and procedures, which resulted in streamlined development and deployment of new functionality within several of the CMTIS applications.
