The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) has become the first humane society in the Washington DC Metro area to launch an iPhone application to enhance its mission. The “Arlington Pets” application, developed by Segue, provides mobile access to the latest information about cats, dogs, and other animals available for adoption through the AWLA, and is currently available for FREE from the AppStore.

The AWLA launched this initiative as a way to help connect today’s technologically savvy society with animals in need. This innovative mobile phone service provides potential adopters with quick and easy access to up-to-the-minute information about homeless animals at the AWLA. The application provides a current list of cats, dogs, and other companion animals that are available for adoption. The application is intuitive and easy to use, for instance:

  • Touch “DOGS” to get a list of all available dogs
  • When you see one you like, touch it to review a detailed description including personality characteristics and exercise needs
  • When you’ve fallen in love, touch CALL or E-MAIL to contact the AWLA immediately to inquire about adoption!

The free application is compatible with both the iPhone and iPad and will be enhanced with new features and functionality, so watch for free updates in the App Store!

Since 1944, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington has been committed to the humane treatment of animals and to the promotion of animal welfare. The AWLA provides temporary care and refuge for homeless and suffering animals, places animals in loving and responsible homes, provides animal control services to Arlington County, educates the public, and provides a wide variety of community services.
