Jason Norgaard has more than 30 years of experience supporting the United States Air Force. As a Segue Team member, Jason joined Segue on February 24, 2016. He started as Project Manager supporting an Air Force contract located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH. Since 2020, Jason is working as Managing Director Senior IV leading and supervising multiple teams/contracts with the USAF.

With the Air Force, Jason retired as a Major after 22 years of service. His main motivation for joining the Air Force was his father, who was also a member of the USAF. During his time with the USAF, Jason started off as an enlisted Outside Plant Telephone Technician and was later commissioned as a Communications Officer. He has served the AF IT community as enlisted, officer, and contractor.

Two of the main skills Jason learned while with the USAF are teamwork and leadership. For him, teamwork is “taking care of your people and ensuring mission accomplishment” and leadership, “getting everyone to work to achieve a common goal and working as one team” Jason works by leading people, understanding their capabilities, and allowing them to shine as they achieve the end goal. He promotes growth, communication and collaboration, skills he learned during his time in the USAF.

One fun fact about Jason and his relationship with the USAF is that after two deployments to Afghanistan and one deployment to Kuwait, he met his wife while they were both stationed in Okinawa.

When talking about his new role as civilian supporting the USAF, he said it is “different but the same” and that if done properly everyone played their part in allowing the AF to accomplish its mission. When asked about his Segue experience, he said “Segue has allowed me to continue a life of service to the USAF and our DoD partners. I think my experience as a Veteran helped me get my first job and Segue has allowed me to bring a unique perspective to future endeavors.”

Jason advice to someone transitioning out of the military, “find out what certifications are needed for the positions you are looking to hire and get those taking care of while you are still in. Update your resume in a way that will highlight your vast military experience.”
